Agra, city of the Taj Mahal, represents the glory of the Mughal Empire. They created it, built its celebrated monuments, and finally a hundred years later, left it for the traditional capital of Delhi. Splendid buildings were erected by the Mughals in and around Agra during the 16th and 17th centuries and Agra became one of their most important cities. The Taj Mahal the greatest monument to love is a strong magnet to any visitor to India. As is the imposing Agra Fort and a little further away from Agra, Emperor Akbar’s 16th century abandoned city at Fatehpur Sikri, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO
